Named for a dear friend, The Emma Shawl is a beautiful lightweight shawl, perfect for spring and chilly northern European summer evenings.

The design is a great exercise in mindfulness; you’ll absorb yourself in the counting and it’ll help you remain in the present, right here, right now.

The diamond pattern shows of hand dyed yarns beautifully, and is a fabulous single skein stash busting project when matching the recommended gauge.

The shawl is worked from the longest side and slowly reduces. So it’s important to note that if you don’t match the gauge, and if your tension is quite loose, consider reducing the beginning chain by a couple of sets of repeats, in case you don’t have enough yarn in your skein to complete it. The pattern is designed to use the entire skein of yarn.
