Empathy Scarf
The Empathy Scarf is the fifth in my A Single Candle series, expressing a desire for us all to take a moment to see things through the eyes of others. Henry David Thoreau asked us, “Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each others eyes for an instant?”
This scarf is worked in two-color brioche rib with a series of alternating color blocks along the length of the scarf, achieved by a simple shift in color dominance. Although it would be perfect using two solid colors, I chose a yarn with shifts in color within each skein, reflecting the complex reality of the world around us.
The smaller needle is used for gauge, and a needle 3 sizes larger than the needle needed to achieve gauge to create elastic cast-on and bind-off edges.
Yarn used:
Ewetopia Helix DK: color A, Shady Grove - 217 yds / 198 m; and color B, Blue Heron - 211 yds /193 m.
