Encanto has been inspired by an amazing oil painting of Hilma af Klint. This Intarsia shawl reminds me of a four leaf clover. According to Celts´ history, the Druids delivered the clover to the Fairy of Fortune with the promise to honor and protect it for the rest of her eternal life. The Fairy “baptized” the four leaves of the clover with the following words….
One leaf is for FAITH…
The second is for HOPE…
The third is for LOVE…
And the fourth one keep it for “CHARM”!

Design Details and Construction Breakdown
The construction of this shawl is quite different and very interesting.
I tried to represent this beautiful piece of art and create a square shawl. Knitting a square shawl means we knit the same triangle 4 times. We need the first part of the wrap flat and then we split it in 4 parts. We knit each part, we do a totally invisible seam that leaves no ridge and we knit the last Rows of the shawl flat again.
It features an i-cord cast on, bind off and i-cord edges.

The pattern is very detailed, tech edited and tested. I provide you with a link of a chart to use in order to mark and keep track of your progress. You will love it!

Suggested measurements: Approx. 100 x 100 cm / 40 x 40”

Yarn: Zenit (Fingering weight, 100% Merino wool; 400 m/100 g) by Lalanalú in the colorways: Color A: Noe (100 gr), Color B: Azabache (20 gr), Color C: Mostaza (60 gr), Color D: Crudo (100 gr), Color E: Índigo 02 from La Tintorista (70 gr). We advise you to have 10 gr more of each colour in case your gauge changes during knitting.

Needles: 4 mm / US 6 circular needles with a cable length of at least 80cm / 32”

Notions: Yarn needle, stitch markers to separate the panels in the beginning, scrap yarn to leave the unworked panels, blocking pins and extra cable extensions to make the length of the cable longer at the end.

Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rows = 10 cm/4″ in Stockinette Stitch, worked flat, blocked.

Encanto se ha inspirado en un increíble óleo de Hilma af Klint. Este chal de intarsia me recuerda a un trébol de cuatro hojas. Según la historia de los celtas, los druidas entregaron el trébol al Hada de la Fortuna con la promesa de honrarlo y protegerlo durante el resto de su vida eterna. El Hada “bautizó” las cuatro hojas del trébol con las siguientes palabras….
Una hoja es para la FE…

Detalles del diseño y desglose de construcción
La construcción de este chal es bastante diferente y muy interesante.
Traté de representar esta hermosa pieza de arte y crear un chal cuadrado. Tejer un chal cuadrado significa que tejemos el mismo triángulo 4 veces. La primera parte la tejemos plana y luego la dividimos en 4 partes. Tejemos cada parte, hacemos una costura totalmente invisible que no deje cresta y volvemos a tejer las últimas filas del chal en plano. Lleva un montaje, un remate y bordes en i-cord.
