Designed to make the most of hand-dyed yarns, where bright colours really want to shine, this unisex sock pattern breaks up the smoothness of stocking stitch with a simple and effective knit-purl pattern inspired by traditional ganseys.

Paired with a slipped-stitch heel and deep ribbed cuff, the knit-purl texture is at once soft and comforting and strong and structured. The resulting sock is a simple and straightforward unisex knit, sensible and yet showcasing the yarn’s rebellious streak!

The pattern includes written out and charted directions, and is designed to fit with some negative ease. Directions are provided for three sizes, from 7” circumference to 9” circumference foot at its widest point, but you could easily adapt the repeat to suit your needs.

An ideal project for that special skein of sock yarn in your stash.
