Ensnare Cowl is going into hibernation, and will be updated later this winter to include five size options, and a chart of the stitch pattern. Thanks for your patience with this temporary unavailability.

Yarn: Shown here in Malabrigo Chunky, color # 186, “Buscando Azul”. Can be made with one skein, (104 yds/95 m, 100 g/3.53 oz.), see size notes for details. With two skeins (208 yds/190 m), I was able to make the “slightly taller option” cowl and the matching “Ensnare Hat” in the adult woman’s size. Any soft chunky weight or bulky weight yarn will work.
Gauge: 3.5 sts/in (14 sts/4in, 14 sts/10cm) in cable pattern stitch.
Needles: 16 inch circular needles in size needed to get gauge. I used a US size 9/5.5mm.
Sizes: One width, approximately 24 in/60cm around. Pattern includes detailed tips for changing gauge, cast on number, or height to alter size. Two heights: One, approx. 7.25 in/18.5cm tall, designed to use one skein of Malabrigo “Chunky” (aprox 104 yds/95 m). The other, shown here, aprox. 8.75 in/22cm tall, used one skein, plus about 1/4 of a second skein (aprox 130 yds/118m).
Skills: Knitting in the round, knit, purl, cast on and cast off, instructions included for cable crosses without a cable needle.
