This pattern was created as part of a challenge in Nerd Wars. The design elements were selected from renaissance cross-stitch charts, redrafted and charted for knitting.

The pattern is three pages. It contains both written line-by-line knitting instructions as well as a single page chart with “quick instructions” for making the square.

I made two test samples in different yarn gauges. The Rowan Cotton knits a 8” square cloth, and the Patons Silk Bamboo produced a 10” square.

The finished squares are suitable as washcloths, dishcloths or for use in a pieced blanket.
