As a knitter, I always notice knitwear appearing in movies and very basic mitten in seed stitch and natural gray colored wool just stuck in my mind after watching the Hobbit. That stitch is so eye-catching in its simplicity and it has such a cushion-like feeling while wearing! I wanted a garment that is designed for hardwearing, something I would take with me on a journey if Gandalf knocked on the door. Therefore I used a rather heavy yarn with small needles and I chose this amazing texel wool that is almost indestructible.

Erebor mittens are cozy, warm, fingerless mittens. It is a really quick pattern, worked in the round from bottom up in seed stitch. A simple “chain” of knit stitches separates the thumb from the hand part.

Gauge: 18x30 rows in seed stitch in the round
Size: 1/2/3 = circumference of : 15,5/16,5/17,5cm 6,1/6,8 inch
Needles: 2,75 and 3.5mm 9-inch circular needles/double pointed needles/circular needles for magic loop method
Yarn: 50 gr of Texelse schapenwol (100gr/180m) or equal amount of aran weight yarn. NOTE! if you want to make the mittens longer you may need more yarn, especially for size 3.
Notions: waste yarn, or yarn holder, 2 sts markers
