This is a simple crochet cowl that uses the half-double crochet stitch to create a loose and flowing pattern. A perfect cowl for transitional seasons like fall or spring, or for moderate climates. Using just one skein of fingering weight yarn, this project is perfect for that gorgeous hand-dyed skein you just had to have and haven’t used yet. I prefer a single ply merino with silk for this project, but any fingering weight yarn with drape will work just fine, and it looks amazing in variegated yarns. The pattern is easily customizable by adding stitches for circumference or adding rows for height. It’s worked in a spiral, so no need to turn, count stitches, or seam your project. It’s a take-anywhere project that turns into a wear with anything accessory.

This pattern was first distributed as a free gift for the 2023 Wine Country Yarn Hop and as a gift with purchase at Fiber Circle Studio.
