My sister Erin is a hard one to shop for - she has great style but it’s incredibly specific. Neutral, simple, clean lines, nothing too crazy. So making something for her is a bit of a technical challenge. It needs to be plain without being boring, fairly engaging to knit for my own sake, & above all well made & perfectly fit. And so this hat was born - a marl of DK & fingering weight yarns for textural interest & color with a classic silhouette that can be worn brimmed or as a long loose beanie. I’ve also included instructions & yardage on how to color dip the crown. And with super stretchy ribbing, this hat can fit just about any adult!

SIZING
– One size; to fit adult head (20”-24” circumference)
– Finished circumference: 16.5”
– Finished height (CO edge to tip of crown): 11.25”
– NOTE: all measurements are taken after blocking & when ribbing is relaxed

FIBER
– Approximately 120 yards DK weight yarn & 120 yards fingering weight yarn
– NOTE: If you wish to do the color dipped modification, you will need about 80 yards of the main color & 40 yards of the crown color (this measurement works for both weights)
– Sample: Both hats were knit up using scraps leftover from other projects

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
– 1 US size 8 circular ndl, 16” cord (or longer if using magic loop method)
– 1 set US size 8 DPNS (omit if using magic loop method)
– Tapestry needle
– Measuring tape
– Blocking materials

GAUGE
22 sts & 20 rnds = 4 inches in k2, p2 rib in the rnd; approximately 5.5 sts/1 inch (measurements taken when ribbing is relaxed & after blocking)
