Espigas Top
This pattern is available exclusively through my website for €9,00 EUR, and after purchasing, you can add it to your Ravelry library with just one click.
Espigas Top is a lightweight summer piece featuring a simple yet elegant cable pattern reminiscent of a field of ripened wheat. Its name comes from the Portuguese word espigas, meaning “ears”, inspired by the golden waves of wheat glowing under the summer sun.
For a summer top, its generous ease through the body and chosen plant-fiber blend ensure breathability and a feeling of coolness, even on the hottest summer days.

The sample is knitted in the colourway 13.
Please be aware that adjusting the length of the garment or the needle size you need to achieve the stated gauge will also affect the amount of yarn needed to finish the project.
The yarn consumption is calculated for the basic cropped version of the pattern, without extension charts and bust darts.
NEEDLES: 4 mm / 6 US circular needles with a cable of at least 80 cm / 32”
GAUGE: 21 sts & 28 rows = 10 cm / 4” in (reverse) stockinette stitch
worked both in the round & flat, after washing and blocking
Please note that for this pattern, both stitch gauge and round/row gauge are important. Your round gauge should therefore fall between 27 and 29 rounds/rows.

ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION
The top is worked bottom-up. It begins in the round with the Espigas cable pattern, incorporating a few decreases to account for gauge differences. At the underarm, stitches are bound off, and the front and back are then worked flat, with the armholes and neckline shaped through decreases.
The shoulders are seamed to ensure structure and stability. Finally, the top edges are finished with a neat I-cord.
