This elegant shawl was designed to showcase the beautiful Piibelehekiri lehel or Lily on a Leaf pattern found in the online exhibition of Estonian Lace held at the Lacis Museum. In my shawl it is surrounded by edges of roundels and a border at either end which are both inspired by and adapted from Nancy Bush’s Knitted Lace of Estonia.

The shawl is knitted from end to end, with the second border knitted separately and grafted onto the main shawl. The measurements of the blocked shawl are 40cm x 165cm.

Requirements:
2.75mm needles, stitch-holder, stitch markers
100g or 800m of 2Ply Lace weight yarn. 1 skein of Dingo Dyeworks Little Ripper 75% Ultrafine Merino 25% Silk in colourway Wallaroo used here with 6g left over. The silk/merino blend of this yarn gives a fabulous sheen and drape to this piece.
