Legends of Rock pattern #5- inspired by Carlos Santana.

“Europa” (the musical composition) starts out slow, gentle and meandering. As it progresses, it gets more intense and complex. “Europa” (the shawl) starts out slow, too, but builds quickly with interesting colorplay and increasingly complex lace patterns.

The shawl is worked from the top down. The lace sections are both written and charted.

Skill level: Advanced - requires advanced lacework on both right and wrong sides; uses right, left and centered double decreases, ssk, ssp, p2tog

Yarn requirements:
370 yards (338 m) Color 1
350 yards (320 m) Colors 2
For maximum effect, choose Color 1 as a highly variegated colorway and Color 2 as a solid or semi-solid using one color from Color 1.

Sample shown in Lazy Cat Yarn Elemental in “Firedragon” (Color 1) and “Very Good Finders” (Color 2).

This piece also works up beautifully in a single solid colorway or in a gradient.

Errata:
Elastic BO step 4 should read “4. Repeat steps 2-3 until 2 sts remain. K2tog tbl.”
