Eva socks are knitted top down and work just fine for beginners. Simple colorwork is used, but there are no long floats so you don’t have to worry about that. The cuff is a simple rib, and the heel uses German Short Rows technique (video instructions are linked). And you know what? This pattern is a great stash buster too! The samples are made in black & white and pink & green combination.
