This CustomFit recipe provides full instructions on how to use CustomFit to make an Evergreen that will fit you perfectly from hem to neck and everywhere in between, including:

  • Which construction options to choose to get Evergreen in the fit and shape as shown above
  • Charts for all cables
  • Fillable worksheets for integrating with the CustomFit pattern you generate
  • Multiple schematics to keep you on track for different sections of the sweater

Evergreen is a deep v-neck pullover with just a touch of cable detailing at the sides. It’s knit bottom-up in the round in one piece, then the upper body is worked flat. Sleeves are either knit flat and seamed in, or else picked up around the armholes and knit top-down with short-row shaping.

Classic preppy elegance with minimal finishing. (They might put that on my gravestone.)

Evergreen is worn with the reverse stockinette side out, but it’s knit inside-out, so the body and sleeves are almost totally knit, rather than purled. It’s actually really easy to cable inside-out (the cables are completely charted), but you don’t need to tell anybody when they rave about how brave you are for knitting a whole sweater in reverse stockinette.
