The Evie Scarf is a dainty neck piece worked from tip to tip in a textured flower stitch. Increases and decreases shape the ends and edge stitches border the flower motif. The stitch creates a thick fabric for extra warmth, making this the ideal companion to its hand-warming counterpart, the Evie Mittens. Instructions are available in various sizes, from mini to maxi.

Sizes: mini (regular, maxi)

Size guide: Choose the mini size if you wish to place the scarf behind your neck and tie a knot at the front. The regular size will allow you to place the scarf in front of your neck, wrap around once, and then tie a knot at the front. Finally, the maxi size will allow for multiple wraps around your neck in a shawl style.

The sample is knitted in the regular size.

Length from tip to tip: approx. 84.5 (122, 198.5) cm or 33.25 (48, 78.25) inches. It is possible to modify the length as explained in the instructions.

Width at centre: approx. 9.5 (12, 29.5) cm or 3.75 (4.75, 11.5) inches. It is possible to modify the width as explained in the instructions.

Gauge: 32 sts x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) in star stitch on 4 mm (US 6) needles after washing and blocking. For reference, the photo below demonstrates how to read gauge on this stitch pattern. Instructions to work the star stitch pattern can be found on page 4.

Needles: 4 mm (US 6)/ 40 (16 inch) circular needles.

Yarn: 1 strand of fingering weight yarn + 1 strand of lace weight yarn held together or 1 strand of DK weight yarn
approx. 144 (268, 1025) metres or 157 (293, 1121) yards of each.
You may need more or less yarn if you wish to modify the length and/or width of the scarf.

Yarn suggestions:
1 (1, 3) skein(s) of The Camel’s Yarn ‘BFL Sock’ (100 g = 425 m/465 yds) and 1 (2, 6) ball(s) of Hobbii ‘Friends Kid Silk’ (25 g = 200 m/218 yds)
or 1 (2, 5) ball(s) of Knitting For Olive ‘Merino’ (50 g = 250 m/273 yds) and 1 (2, 5) ball(s) of Knitting For Olive ‘Soft Silk Mohair’ (25 g = 225 m/246 yds)
or 1 (2, 5) skein(s) of Drops ‘Flora’ (50 g = 210 m/230 yds) and 1 (2, 5) ball(s) of Drops ‘Kid-Silk’ (25 g = 210 m/230 yds)

The sample was knitted using 1 strand of The Camel’s Yarn ‘BFL Sock’ shade Flora Day held with 1 strand of Hobbii ‘Friends Kid Silk’ shade 44 Rose. For a regular size, I used approx. 63 g of the ‘BFL Sock’ and 33 g of ‘Friends Kid Silk’ (this does NOT include extra yarn for a swatch).
