You’ll feel as clever as the Mistress of Evil herself while knitting a shawl version of the battle between Maleficent and Prince Phillip.

The highly textured pattern of this shawl will remind you of the thorny brambles Maleficent generates to stop Prince Phillip from reaching Aurora. Only, your brambles are actually soft and squishy and perfect to wrap around yourself. As you get through the thorny section, the acid-green flames emerge as a different, fun to knit, squishy texture. In the end, as Maleficent ultimately loses the battle, you see the texture fade to a simple slip-stitch pattern for the border.

I designed this shawl for Knit Dizzney 2019, using one skein of each of the two Maleficent-inspired colors: Darkest of Hearts by Dizzy Blonde Studios and Now You Shall Deal with SHEEP! by Lazer Sheep Yarns.
