I am always looking for knitting projects that are both practical and challenging. The practicality of the gauntlets met the need to keep my wrists and arms warm while having my fingers free to work at the keyboard as the house gets colder through the winter. The challenge was to find interesting stitch and construction features. So I included a lacy stitch pattern, a folded hem on both the cast-on and bind-off edges, and mirrored the patterns so that the left gauntlet matched the right one. I also wanted to be sure that the thumb gusset was placed where it would fit most comfortably on my hand. The addition of bobbles, with their own construction challenges, and the opportunity to work on knitting from right to left was just icing on the cake.
