This pattern was written in rage over the murder of Renee Nicole Macklin Good and countless other despicable acts of violence by ICE. It was made quickly and without polish and thus may be a little rough around the edges, because waiting felt unacceptable. Updates will come as I work through this myself, but I wanted this in people’s hands as fast as possible, to make something tangible in response to violence, injustice, state sanctioned harm and lies by the Trump administration. It was written with haste, grief and fury, and is offered in the same spirit. This pattern is not meant to be PC, quiet or comforting. It is meant to be a small act of resistance, a refusal to normalize violence, and a call to stay angry, stay engaged, and take action. An agency that kills people in their own communities under the banner of “enforcement” is not about safety or justice. This was MURDER. We must refuse to accept state violence as normal. We have to keep showing up, resisting, and refusing to forget.

We will not be complicit. We will not stand for this. F*** ICE.

F*** ICE Socks are worked in the round from the toe up using a seamless cast on and a short row heel. The base of the sock is a very simple vanilla pattern with a little bit of interest at the toe that uses colorwork techniques or duplicate stitching. In similar fashion to my other designs that feature words, the words are split across the tops of both feet so when you put them together it makes up the full design.
