The sweater is knitted on the WS, then turned to knit the “in set colorwork”, then turned again to continue knitting on the WS, showing as reverse stockinette on the RS. This is to engage you in a pleasing, meditative knitting experience. There is almost no purling at all, except for the collar and short row shaping. The only effort is the colorwork

The Winter Fade is knitted in La Bien Aimee Merino Singles colorways: Loam or Undergrowth - Aimée Loam - Peerie Voe - Winter Garden (lightest color)

The Winter to Summer Sweater is inspired by the recent fade craze, combined with an oversized colorwork shoulder line. For Summer Version I wanted to have some kind of watercolor splashes all over the neckline, but did not want to completely abandon the classical colorwork shapes - thus, the stretched, almost distorted flower structures that are showing off beautiful hand dyed yarn. As I loved this sweater so much, I created a more geometric pattern, based on the Selbu Mittens heritage, for the Winter version.

The Winter to Summer Sweater is knitted top-down, with a slightly oversized drape in body and sleeves. It has two fades: upper one (the small fade) and lower one (the big fade) and a colorwork - meaning you will need a couple of fading colors and one contrast color of the same palette, or combine the lightest and the darkest fade color in a colorwork. You can also do a reverse fade, or two different fades up and down. This is a scrap yarn project. Have fun!

Both Charts: Winter (selbu branches) and Summer (flowers) are included in the pattern.

Yarn quantity
About 1200m (1450yd) of fingering weight yarn - colors and length of your choice, this is a scrap yarn project. For size L and the Summer Version I used app 1/2 hank of Merino Singles of both, CC4 and CC3, about 1 1/4 of CC1 and 1 full hank of CC2. For the Winter Version, size XL, I used almost 3 full hanks of each, CC1, CC2, and CC3, and 1/4 hank of CC4
