This is more of a recipe than a pattern. I knit hats for my friend, an alpaca farmer, to sell in her shop. This year the popular version seems to be black and white hats with simple fair isle patterns as a band right above the ribbing. I’ve been keeping track of the different hats on a project page which you can find all of the samples Here if you’d like to look at the finished projects.

I have decided to offer my VERY BASIC instructions along with the charts I have created to anyone who is interested in making similar hats. I assume anyone who downloads these charts has knit hats before and is comfortable with basic construction techniques. I would not recommend this for a beginner.

These have also not been tested by anyone except me so… .

I hope you enjoy making your own special creations using this as possible inspiration!

ETA: I know band #6 is missing. I got halfway through the hat, hated the way it looked so frogged it and deleted the chart from my file. I didn’t bother to renumber the other band ideas because basically it was originally only for me and honestly I’m kinda lazy sometimes.
