It’s no secret that I love online shopping. But one of its pitfalls is that you can’t try your purchases on first.
These green leather boots were just too beautiful to pass up so I decided to take a chance. When they arrived, they fit almost perfectly, except for the fact that I couldn’t quite get the zipper done up on the final half inch.
Knitting to the rescue! These pretty little boot toppers not only bring a little more romance to the boots with lovely lacy leaves and braided cables, they also camouflage the slightly undone zipper quite nicely.
Each lace cuff is knit flat, then blocked. After blocking, stitches are picked up around the top edge, joining the cuff in the round to finish it off with soft, snug ribbing that will keep the cuff in place.
The buttons are purely decorative (there are no button holes to fuss with), adding an extra bit of whimsy.
Cuffs can easily be made smaller or larger by adding or removing repeats of the lace chart.
