My favourite part of Christmas, was, and still is the run up to the day itself. The shopping, the festive music, the decorations, but more than anything else, the decorating of the tree on the 1st December.
As a child, the fairy lights and tinsel always adorned the tree first, this was a time full of excitement, and impatience, as it was always the job of our parents to make sure the lights and tinsel were perfectly positioned. This job always seemed to take so long, but once that was finally done, us children were allowed to make our mark on the tree, and hang our chosen ornaments.
I wanted to design a Christmas sock that could be worn all year round, and that had meaning to my Christmas’ as a child, so i designed this sock, with the fairy lights and tinsel in mind. Each eyelet resembles an individual fairy light bulb, and the purled stitches the tinsel, spiralling around the tree.

This pattern was designed by Gemma Watson for use by Bellica Yarns in the Christmas sock box. Work cuff down, and in the round, using a main colour and a contrasting colour, you could easily use the one colour. The pattern is written for mini circulars, however you cold easily use magic loop or DPNs.
