Lush garter rib amidst a fabric of diagonal stripes is a wonder of textural entertainment. The easy-to-memorize pattern and construction allows for endless colour possibilities that knitters of every level will love.

PATTERN NOTES
This rectangular stole alternates between blocks of garter rib and colorful stripes in garter stitch. The stole is knit flat and begins at one corner. It increases on both sides until the desired width is reached, and then is knit on the bias with increases along one edge and decreases along the other. At the end, both sides decrease until only a few stitches remain.
To adjust the width of the stole, work the increase pattern more or fewer times until desired width is reached. To make the stole longer or shorter, add or subtract blocks of the garter stripes and garter rib. Please note that changing the size of the stole will also affect the amount of yarn needed.
The order of the contrasting colours used in the sample is London Fog (CC1), Lady Grey (CC2), Lilac (CC3), Watershed (CC4), and Jasmine (CC5).
The stitch patterns are both written (see Stitches Used) and charted (page 3) for your preference.
