Falling Leaves Shawl
We sell knitting and crochet patterns to support medical research or charitable causes through the financing of charity sports bibs.
By purchasing a pattern, you are supporting a charity and helping an athlete to run on its behalf !
Inspired by the quiet beauty of autumn, this shawl captures the gentle movement of falling leaves. Delicate leaf motifs cascade across the fabric, evoking a walk through a forest as the trees release their colors to the wind. Light, elegant, and rhythmic to knit, this shawl is perfect for showcasing seasonal yarns and wrapping yourself in the warmth of fall.
SIZE
The size is modulable: you can repeat the Body Chart as much as you want, so you can reach desired length.
On the picture, the shawl is approximately 190 cm / 75 inches wingspan and 90 cm / 35 inches along the centerspine, after blocking.
NEEDLES
3.5mm (US 4) / 60cm (24”) circular needles, or longer. You can change circumference according to your yarn recommendation, it won’t alter the pattern.
The shawl is knitted flat, but you will need at least 60cm (24”) of room to stock all your stitches.
YARN & YARDAGE
I used DK Yarn, but this pattern can be made with other types of yarn : Lace, Light Fingering, Fingering, Sport, Worsted, Aran.
For the size described in the last point, expect 780 meters / 853 yards.
GAUGE
Gauge is not important for this project.
Here is mine : 28 sts / 28 rows = 10x10cm / 4x4 inches in stockinette with 3.5mm (US 4) needles.
CONSTRUCTION
The shawl is worked back and forth on circular needles, starting from the top center.
You will have to follow 3 charts : Starting Chart, Body Chart and Edging Chart. Body Chart is repeated as much as you need to achieve tour size.
Each chart have written explanations.
Don’t forget your shawl will need blocking !
