In this design I use the floats to make a texture. The larger central design is stretchy to a point, but the sidebar columns are less stretchy because there are so many stitches adjacent to each other. The remainder of the stockinette achieves sufficient stretchiness to accommodate normal fitting, however. It’s funny that this kind of froo-froo appeals to certain people and not at all to others. I know from doing a quick panel of my friends and family that it’s about 50-50. At first I was quite disappointed that certain people (my husband!) had no attraction to it whatsoever; but the enthusiasm of some of my other friends/family made up for it. So I offer it up here with a swatch sock where the design is only on the front where I can admire it if I’m sitting with my feet up reading a book or watching TV. Yarn credits for this sample sock:

Greenwood Fiberworks, Simply Sock garnet, purchased at Stitches West 2018.

Malabrigo Ivy, green, sock kettle dyed pure superwash merino wool, Green Planet Yarn, San Jose, CA. 2018.
