This pattern is a fun way to dress up a pair of inexpensive summer “flip flops” and also help them stay put on your feet when you are at work or play. The pattern uses a simple but very effective lace stitch which I discovered in a Victorian era magazine. I like to think that had flip flops been available in her time, actress & activist Fanny Kemble --whom I named this pattern for-- would have delighted in making herself a few pairs of these to wear on her excursions to the beach! A large hook and just 5 or 6 rounds means that you can make a pair of these sandals in almost no time at all!

Pattern includes 3 sizes for flip flops Women’s sizes Small (5-6); Medium (7-8); and Large (9-10).

You will need a small amount of #4 aran weight yarn, a 6.5mm hook, scissors, bodkin/yarn needle, and a pair of flip flops. The stitches are simple to work and there are lots of photos to help you make these.
