The Fantoft cowl features an adaptation of the Norwegian Fana motif with stripes and stars.

The sample was knitted in fingering weight yarn, but the pattern could also be worked in heavier yarns. The cowl is easy to resize. Instructions to change both the circumference and height are given in the pattern.

The yardage breakdown is as follows:
170 m / 186 yards fingering weight yarn in main colour
65 m / 71 yards in contrast colour 1
12 m / 13 yards each in contrast colours 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7
or 137 m / 150 yards in a single contrast colour

*

The cowl’s name comes from Fantoft stave church in the Fana borough of Bergen.
