Far and Wide describes the shape of this boomerang not-quite-a-scarf-not-quite-a-shawl shape. It has long arms to wrap around for warmth or dangle casually over a shoulder, and a fun bandit style V neck for extra warmth where you need it.

Knitting by the seat of your pants 1 is a collection of mostly garter projects in a variety of shapes, focussing on simple yet interesting 4 row construction, which is easily memorised and can be repeated until you’ve either run out of yarn or time.

Each of these patterns can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from the chart with some notes.

Gauge is not critical with this project. This page lists 9mm needles, which was the size used for the chunky purple/yellow sample, but please adapt your needle size to suit your own yarn.

This design is suited to a range of weights from fingering to worsted, and adaptable to any yardage.

Sizing is very flexible. Start at the bottom of the boomerang and knit upwards until you want to bind off.
