Farewell Norwegian Cardigan
The Farewell Norwegian Cardigan is a cozy, boxy cardigan, knit bottom-up, in the round. Instructions include all charts – of course - so you can scale the pattern up or down to suit your size preference. The pattern assumes that you know how to do stranded colorwork, steeks, and that you always check your gauge.
The pattern is written for just one size. It is up to the knitter to adjust the pattern to fit.
Finished Measurements:
Bust 40”
Length 24”
Sleeve length 18”
Materials:
Yarn: Dale of Norway Helio.
9 50g balls main color (dark grey)
6 50g balls contrast color (light grey)
Note: The finished sweater weighs about 750 grams. Be wise, buy a little more yarn that what I’m recommending. I used every last inch of the contrast color. I wish I had bought just one more ball.
Needles:
Circular (80 cm | 32 inch)
- 3.0 mm (US 2)
- 3.5 mm (US 4)
Double pointed (set of 5)
- 3.0 mm (US 2)
- 3.5 mm (US 4)
Miscellaneous Materials:
- Stich markers (Two different colors)
- Yarn needle
- Waste yarn to hold shoulder stitches
- Crochet hook
- 6 Fancy clasps (More or less depending on how long your torso is and how many clasps you think looks good.)
Tension:
24 stitches / 4 inches
30 rows / 4 inches
Note: You have heard it before and you know you need to do it, take the time to check your gauge. If you want the sweater to fit and make you look like the most awesome knitter in the world, check you gauge. Since we all love to just jump right into a project without fussing over silly stuff like our gauge, I recommend you start this project by knitting the sleeves. Just 5 or 6 inches of the sleeve will tell you everything you need to know about your gauge for this project. If it doesn’t look right, undo it and try again.
