in The final pieces will be square.... they may require a little blocking to reach square depending on tension. But as long as each piece is the same size, it will work.

This pattern was written and released as a free advent knit-a-long, but the final product is listed here. If you want to make it as an advent project, there are 12 parts, and 25 squares total.

The final project makes a blanket that is square, and almost the width of a Queen sized bed - depending on whether you crochet the squares together.

It is designed to be a lap blanket, throw, bed blanket and child’s play mat. My vision is for the work to be gifted to a young child or parents expecting a child, that can grow with the child and become a family heirloom piece. The farmyard can be a photo backdrop, play-place with cars, tractors and animals, and later a bed blanket. The textures make it perfect for very young children to be able to feel their way around the world.

You can use left-over DK for this project. I have used new yarns in various shades, but it would look stunning with different leftover tones of green, gold and beige.
