Fat Bats Socks
(Welsh: Ystlumod Dew)
Adorable, fat little bats dart up or down these socks, which also feature mini cables, rice-stitch sides and cuffs, a beautiful Welsh heel, and a hemmed picot cuff.
Suitable for solid, tonal, or speckled yarns.
The pattern is written for top down OR toe up, and will look great either way!
Materials:
- Fingering weight yarn, 400-460 yards to 100 grams (Sport yarn 200-250 yds)
- 2 or 4 stitch markers for BOR or pattern
Needle size: 4DPNs or Circular needle(s) in size:
US 1-1.5 (2.25-2.5mm) for fingering, US 2-3 (2.75mm-3mm) for sport weight, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge is important to size. The pattern is designed with just a little negative ease. You should get 8-9 st/11-12 rows to the inch for fingering, 7st/9 rows for Sport weight. Note: This pattern runs a little small! You may wish to go up a needle size from your usual.
