With tapestry crochet, two or more colors are worked at the same time to create motifs; one is carried while the other is single crocheted. The tight stitch and thread used for this bag produce a fabric so substantial that it doesn’t need to be lined. If you tend to crochet loosely, the tightness of the stitch may be increased by pulling on the thread after each stitch or by using a smaller crochet hook. Sometimes it’s necessary to both increase the tension and decrease the size of the crochet hook to achieve the desired result. You may also hold the crochet hook like a knife and use a hook with a handle because it’s easier to grip, especially when crocheting tightly. Some crochet hooks have handles – or you can make your own polymer clay crochet hook handle. Instructions and graphs are included for right-handed and left-handed crocheters.
