Fat Kereru/NZ Wood Pigeon
by Ben Southall
A pattern so that you can make your very own Kereru/New Zealand Wood Pigeon! Kereru are well known in New Zealand for their bright white breast, their iridescent back/shoulders, and their loud whooshing sound when they fly.
Materials:
3mm Hook
Scissors
Darning Needle
Yarn in the below colours:
- White - recommended 4 Seasons Marvel 8 Ply White
- Red - recommended 4 Seasons Marvel 8 Ply Ruby
- Dark Green - recommended 4 Seasons Marvel 8 Ply Dark Bottle
- Dark Blue - recommended Moda Vera 8 Ply Navy
- Burgundy - no specific recommendation on this, just that you’ll want something burgundy/maroon in colour, ideally either with a bit of shine or variegation to mimic the iridescene on a Kereru
