The main pattern on these socks uses a cunning combination of yarnovers and decreases to create a lacy motif which has the the criss-crossing look of entrelac, but without all that tedious turning-the-work-every-few-stitches which entrelac requires.

Skills required

  • knitting
  • purling
  • yarnovers
  • increasing
  • decreasing
  • working small circumferences in the round (DPNs, two circulars, or magic loop)
  • short rows with wrapping and turning and working the wraps back into the knitting
  • Judy’s Magic Cast-On or other method which allows you to cast on in a closed tube
  • Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off or other method which creates a stretchy bind-off edge
