This hat is made out of a thin (fingering weight) 100% merino yarn. It is warm and light-weight. I wanted a super simple design to go with it. Simplicity can often lead to quite a striking result. I thought of a cosy hat, and I wanted it to be stretchy and knit-like. It somewhat look like a sock, ony for you head !

The hat is worked bottom-up, in a spiral, apart from the first 3 rows.

It is quite an easy project, however this knowledge is necessary :

  • foundation half-double crochet (FHDC)
  • working in the 3rd loop
  • decreasing in half-double crochet = two half-double crochet together (HDC2TOG)

Size :

This free pattern is a true one-size-fits-all adult hat. It is very stretchy and fits my woman L size head circumference as well as my 10 year old child. To upsize it you could use a bigger hook (4 mm, US G).
