A simple lace pattern that, repeated, makes a beautiful scarf.

A friend of mine, a non-knitter, was gifted with some beautiful Alpaca Merino Wool. I thought it would be nice for both of us if I offered to knit her something out of it (I hate to see yarn go unknitted). She decided on a scarf, with no other specifications except that it be in a lacy pattern. I swatched a few simple Feather and Fan variations and decided on this version. It has enough lace to keep the scarf airy and light but still keep the wearer warm. The scarf was well received so I thought that I would write up the pattern and make it available as a freebie.

This project uses knit, purl, knit two together and yarnover stitches combined with easy cast on and bind off methods.

The model was knit using a lovely worsted weight alpaca merino wool blend, creating a lofty, soft scarf. This pattern can be made using any weight yarn, just adjust your needle size to fit your yarn. Adjust the width by adding stitches in increments of 18.

Blocking the completed scarf allows the lace pattern to open up.
