This happy hippo has moving jointed limbs and a sweet smiling face.
This toy is so quick to knit using large size needles, then magically transformed into thick soft felt by a ride in your washing machine!

Hippo’s legs are jointed so it can sit stand or cuddle and its traditional button eyes twinkle above a cute embroidered nose and mouth.

Each piece of the Hippo is stuffed before felting; the stuffing is compressed as the knitting shrinks to give a plump seamless finish.

My clear and detailed 13 page pattern and instructions show you step by step, from knitting, sewing up, and felting, to assembling and creating the face of your Hippo.

(If you are gifting this toy to a child please do not use buttons- embroidered eyes look great too, and the limbs will still be jointed)

This pattern uses basic shaping , knit 2 together to decrease and knit front and back to increase.

Felting is a wonderful way to extend your knitting skill, it is very forgiving, and the knitted stitches disappear once the felting process is complete.

I guide you every step of the way so you can easily create your own felted Happy Hippo friend.
