Yarn Requirements: Worsted weight (or heaveir) yarn that will felt easily. Koala requires approximately 250 yards of main color plus about 25 yards of black. For inner ears and chest patch you will need about 40 yards of a contrasting yarn such as a long haired mohair.

Needles: Size US 10.5 straight needles for worsted weight yarn. For bulky yarn, or if you are using a double strand to make a larger koala, use size US 11 needles.

Yarn used for Koalas in pattern photo:

  1. Norwester (Creative Yarns International) worsted in color #705; Contrast: Glory (Lorna's Laces Yarns) hand dyed mohair.
  2. Nature Spun (Brown Sheep Company) worsted in color 701; Contrast: Glory (Lorna's Laces Yarns) hand dyed mohair.
  3. North Idaho Heathers (Steadfast Fibers) worsted weight in color Black Hills; Contrast: Marvelous Mohair (Steadfast Fibers).
