We have a new, pretty rambunctious kitten in the house and so he needed some new toys. I created this new felted cat toy design to help keep him busy. It is now his favorite toy and he even takes it with him for his daily naps! The finished mouse body is about 4 inches long, including the tail it is almost 6 inches. The body is worked in garter stitch, tail and ears are created using I-cord. The mice are extra cute using multiple colors, so this is a great project for felt-able stash yarns. After felting, the face is embroidered. I find it very interesting that my cats will not disturb drying faceless mice, but once the face is embroidered, they will take them off the tabletop. You can rub the mice with catnip for added interest. I stuff them with wool, not polyester batting, so the mice are strong yet lightweight. I keep my cut wool yarn ends for just such a use; you could use roving or additional knitting yarn also. Gauge is not important, as these are felted.
