PLEASE NOTE: I am rewriting this pattern to include my new contact information as well as adding notes for a slightly smaller bag that only uses 400 yards. If you have purchased this pattern, the updates will come to you automatically when they’re complete. I’ll be posting my own progress photos for the new size soon!

This makes an extremely wide bag, which is what I wanted for my end result. When an item is to be felted, it will shrink more vertically (approximately 40%) than it will horizontally. For my own bag, I overcompensated by making my bag really tall before felting so that I would have the right proportions when it was finished. If you would like a narrower bag, just cast on fewer stitches than my pattern calls for and keep an eye on the proportions and plan accordingly.

Added 30 Nov 2010:

Finished dimensions of my bag (i.e. the one pictured in the pattern photos and in the two project photos at the top):

19” wide

13” tall

5” deep

Handles are Grayson E leather handles, backstitched with DMC Perle Cotton Col 938
