Ferdy Hopper is a cute frog who likes to hang out sitting on his log.
This is a PDF Pattern with photo tutorial for circular knitting machines such as the Addi Express, Sentro, or another similar brand.
-Pattern includes picture tutorials for the following skills/ techniques:
-- Closing a knit tube with a square edge
-- Weaving a cinch line into a finished piece
-- Mattress stitching to attach pieces together
-- Mattress stitching to seam the arms to create a smaller tube
-- Techniques to add a belly button and butt crack
-- 2 different techniques to achieve the hand/ foot shaping
Finished Size:
Measured from tip of toe to top if eyes.
Measurements vary depending on stuffing, yarn weight, and tension.
#4 Worsted weight yarn = 24.5” (63 cm)
#3 DK weight yarn = 23.5” (60 cm)
Supplies Needed:
46 /48 needle circular knitting machine (IE: Addi, Sentro, or similar)
22 needle circular knitting machine
Yarn (see list below)
1 inch felt circle eyes or 24-26mm “safety” eyes (I used and prefer felt)
Darning needle
Long yarn/wool needle – at least 3 inches long
Stuffing of your choice (I used Poly-fil)
5mm or 5.5 mm crochet hook for closing hands and feet
(optional) 4mm crochet hook for crocheted tongue
stitch markers
scissors
Yarn:
#4 worsted weight - I used “Big Twist Value”
You know your machines best. Use the yarn that works with your machines.
-Main color - 1 skein, 380 yards (6 oz)/ 347 m (170g)
** NOTE: A couple testers reported needing a small amount of a second skein to finish, while others stated they had a small amount left from the first skein.*
-white: approx. 0.4oz/ 14g
-small amount of pink
-small amount of black
-Small amounts of waste yarn in contrasting colors for legs and arms
-Light brown – approx. 0.39 oz/11g
-Dark brown – approx. 0.9 oz/28g

Casting on without waste yarn
Casting off with and without waste yarn
Cinch closing pieces
(optional) Crochet Skills: (US Terms): used for the tongue and 1 of the hand/foot options
- Chain (ch)
- slip stitch (slst)
- Single crochet (sc)
-Double crochet (dc)
-Working in back hump
Notes:
-You can make this pattern without the crocheted parts. I have included instructions for the arms and legs with and without crocheted details.
-The tongue is crocheted. However, you could potentially create a tongue with an i-cord knitter if you have one.
-When casting off with waste yarn, I recommend 10 rows to be sure of no dropped stitches. I used medium/moderate tension for all pieces
