Festive Little Sweaters
A quick and easy last-minute Christmas decoration or gift!
I originally knit these up for my coworkers last year and posted a quick tutorial on my Instagram, but after knitting a few for my Christmas card photo this year, I decided to officially “publish” this pattern. Each little sweater knits up in about an hour, and can be used as ornaments, garland, gift tags, or tied on to bags of treats.
A few notes:
-
I listed between 37 and 40 yards in the pattern requirements, but when I was knitting I weighed the yarn instead of measuring it out. I would recommend you do this as well, especially if you have leftover bits you’re hoping to use up. The “large” version of the sweater takes about 15 g of yarn, while the “small” version of the sweater takes about 8 g of yarn.
-
Gauge is not important for this pattern.
-
I used Valley Yarns Northampton, because that’s what I had on hand in the color I needed, but I have also used other worsted weight yarns and all work fine.
-
I knit these using a 32” circular and magic loop, but you could easily use dpns.
Finished sizes:
- Larger sweater: about 6” from wrist to wrist and about 3.75” from collar to hem
- Small sweater (“extra little” in the pattern): about 4.25” from wrist to wrist and about 2.5” from collar to hem
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!
