Create our bobble hat which features a cute penguin wearing a Santa hat motif and is topped with a large pompom. Designed for children aged 1 to 11 years old and uses double knitting (DK) wool.

Design: The hat is knitted flat on straight needles and has a festive penguin motif which is knitted following a chart using the intarsia method. The penguin’s hat pompom is knitted and sewn on separately. You will need to sew the back seam and add a pompom to the top.

Sizes
The pattern includes 6 sizes to fit: 1-2 yrs, 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs, 6-7 yrs, 8-9 yrs and 10-11 years old.

Yarn
The pattern uses double knitting wool (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).
The picture shows the outfit knitted using Stylecraft Special DK in shades: Cornish Blue (1841), White (1001), Black (1002), Red (Lipstick 1246) and Mustard (1823)

Tension
22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.

Needles
Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
