Capturing the essence of summer, this shawl features a striking sunflower motif surrounded by rippling ears of barley. It begins in the round, starting in the middle of the sun medallion, then each end is worked separately from the centre out.

This pattern was the worthy winner of a design competition run by Italian yarn company Gomitoli’s in association with The Knitter. It uses Spring Cashmere, a lightweight and drapey blend of cotton, silk and cashmere.
