The heat of July in the northern hemisphere might not have you craving a snuggle with some cozy pillows, so I am encouraging you to prepare for the chill of fall with a special offer …

Finn-ish: two simple-to-knit throw pillows featuring a color changing yarn contrasted with dark & light patterning.

Hygge is a Scandinavian word which describes a quality of coziness that creates a sense of contentment or well-being. Inspired by a vintage sweater picked up at a Finnish thrift store, these throw pillows feature a color-blocked pattern of gradually shifting jewel tones contrasted with traditional Scandinavian designs.

The Finn-ish pillows are made by knitting two squares and rotating the side seam to the middle of the pillow to create color blocked patterning. The pillow with dark and light stripes is simple enough for a beginner knitter. The dark-and-light crosses pattern is worked as stranded knitting and is at an intermediate skill level. Both charted and written instructions are provided for the cross-patterned square.

Finished Measurements

Required Materials

Color-Changing Yarn: 220 yds/202 m of worsted- or Aran-weight yarn (#4 medium weight) per pillow. Yarn shown is Noro Silk Garden (45% silk, 45% mohair, 10% wool), Color: #403

Dark & Light Solid Yarns: 197 yds/180 m of worsted weight yarn (#4 medium weight) in each of two colors for each pillow. Yarn shown is Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine (40% alpaca, 40% wool, 20% silk). Colors: #02 Moonbeam, #16 Charcoal.

Note: If knitting both pillows, you may only require 3 balls of color-changing yarn and 1 of the light solid, but it is recommended you purchase the additional yarn and return if not used.
