This mitt pattern is designed using Shetland traditional motifs in hues of blue and has been made in memory of a beautiful woman. Fiona was kind, loving, supportive, honest and intuitive as well as being creative. She reached out to me when I was living in Shetland and offered me the hand of friendship and the loyal ear of a friend. I will never forget her kindness. Fiona sadly died on 22nd April 2023. The colours for these mitts have been inspired by her pure blue eyes.

50% of the profits from the sale of this pattern will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support for the first month after release.

Use above DPN’s or needles suitable for your preferred method of small circumference knitting.

Size: - One Size to fit Small / Medium Adult hands. Circumference above the thumb – 8 inches / 20 cm. Length from the start round of cast on rib to the last round of finger rib – 7 ¾inches / 19:5cm

Tension:- 39 rows and 36 stitches to 10 cm measured over the pattern using 2:5mm UK needles.

Notes: The pattern chart is 72 stitches wide and 53 rounds. The pattern is knitted in the round and the motifs are placed in such a way that a central flower pattern runs up the back of your hand and the join of new each round falls in the middle of the palm at one of the flower patterns. I have placed the pattern purposely in this way, so that the small step in pattern at the join point of each round are in a less visible position
