Fior di Felce means Fern Flower in Italian. Actually ferns don’t produce flowers, but a popular legend says that the magical fern flower blooms only once a year at midnight and that whoever finds it will get supernatural powers, like infinite knowledge or invisibility.
This shawl is a top-down triangle that mixes colorwork with Japanese lace for a stunning result!

Fiordifelce is started with an i-cord tab, then continued as a normal triangular shawl with lateral increases and central double increases. Lateral i-cords give a finished look with no effort.
The shawl is covered in a filigree of leaves and flowers over a dark background. The background is worked with two yarns held together and the motif is obtained using only one of the two yarns.
The shawl body is not complex and decorated by vertical lines and some small “leaves” while the big final border needs more attention but it’s worth the effort, because it creates the most intricate, delicate and magical result. Like finding a fern flower!
.
Sizes: S, M, L
Note: The body of the shawl is knitted in the same way for all sizes. The number of rows worked for the border makes the difference. In the pattern you’ll find where to stop to obtain a graceful result for the various sizes.

Finished sizes: Wingspan approx 130 (150, 170) cm / 51 (59, 67)”; depth 45 (60, 75) cm (17.75, 23.5, 29.5”).
