This sock is knit cuff down, in reverse stockinette, with a flower cable motif symbolising flowers and fireworks that are so much a part of Chinese New Year celebrations.

I recommend this pattern to intermediate level sock knitters, or those have a good understanding of sock construction.

In addition to 2.25mm/US 1 needles (or size to achieve gauge), you will need a:

  • thin cable needle
  • fine crochet hook (1.9mm/Size 5) for working the K4tog
  • stitch markers
  • the usual snips and tapestry needle for finishing work.

This pattern will do best in a solid or semi-solid colourway, in a sock yarn with lots of elasticity.

Medium size measures 7.5 inches/19 cm in circumference.
Large size measures 8 inches/20cm in circumference.
