This pattern uses basic crochet skills, but recommended for those comfortable with lots of small parts and sewing them together. I don’t recommend the pattern or finished product for people with dexterity issues. The construction and loading the bags into the hydrant can be tricky.

Basic crochet skills are used: magic ring, chain, slip stitch, single crochet (increasing and decreasing), half double crochet, and working in the back loops only.

Materials You Will Need:

• Crochet hook size: H/5mm
• A hook one or more sizes smaller (used for pulling loop through)
• Worsted weight yarn: Red ( or your choice of hydrant color) and Grey
• Yarn needle for weaving in ends
• Poly-fil or a fist full of yarn scraps

The finished fire hydrant measures about 2 1/4 inches wide, and 4 inches tall.
