Mittens

Size: Women’s
Materials: 1 skein Firenze (eyelash yarn), 1 skein Encore Worsted, needles size 10, or those need to achieve gauge.

Gauge: 3 stitches = 1 inch in stockinette stitch

Make 2:
With 1 strand Firenze and 1 strand Encore Worsted, loosely case on 28 stitches. Work in K1, P2 ribbing for 14 rows. Change to double strand of Encore. Beginning with a knit row, work 6 rows in st st.
Row 1: Knit 12, place marker, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K1, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, place marker K13.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit to marker, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K3, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K to end of row.
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: Knit to marker, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K5, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K to end of row.
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: Knit to marker, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K7, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K to end of row.
Row 8: Purl
Row 9: Knit to marker, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, K9, knit into the front and the back of the next stitch, turn. Purl back across 12 sts only.
Work in St St over the 12 thumb stitches for 6 rows, ending with a purl row.
Next row: (K1, K2tog) repeat from across row (8 sts)
Next row: (P2tog) repeat from across row (4 sts)
Cut yarn, run through the last 4 sts, draw up tightly and secure. Sew up thumb seam. With right side of work facing, reattach the yarn at the base of the thumb. Pick up and knit 2 stitches at the base of the thumb, knit to the end of the row (28 sts)

Continuing in St St, work 13 rows, ending with a purl row.

Begin decreasing as follows:
Row 1: K1, SSK, K9, K2tog, SSK, k9, K2tog, K1
Row 2 and all even rows: Purl
Row 3: K1, SSK, K7, K2tog, SSK, k7, K2tog, K1
Row 5: K1, SSK, K5, K2tog, SSK, k5, K2tog, K1
Row 7: K1, SSK, K3, K2tog, SSK, k3, K2tog, K1
Row 8: Purl.
Bind Off in Knit

Sew up top of mitten, sew up side seam, weave in ends.
